urban imaginaries soundwalk

on March 13, 2022, i led a soundwalk through the streets of Centretown in collaboration with the Urban Imaginaries project and Ottawa coffee house Arlington 5. the walk began at McNabb park (Bronson at Gladstone) and ended at Arlington 5 (Arlington at Bank). once we arrived at Arlington 5, the group engaged in a vibrant discussion about some of the many observations we made while on the walk (and the event was graciously catered by our hosts!).

in spite of the cold of mid-march, the soundwalk nevertheless brought together over 40 participants (!!!) including students in my graduate course “Sound, Space, and the City”.

i was interviewed about the soundwalk and its role in the broader Urban Imaginaries project by Susan Johnston on the CKCU show Friday Special Blend.

photos taken at the event are included in the galleries below along with a map of the event. black + white photos were captured by David Pestana of A5 and fellow soundwalker.
